Sadly earlier this year, Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Roberts passed away at just 48 years old. “Today we lost our brother,” the band wrote online at the time. “Our bandmate. Our heartbeat. Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”

Over the weekend, Limp Bizkit played their first concert since his death in Mexico City. Kid Not, aka Richie Buxton, played bass for the band who also paid tribute to their fallen brother. The band showed a short video compilation while on stage. The words “Sam Rivers, our brother forever” and “Sam Rivers, we love you forever” appeared on screen, and the group shared an emotional embrace at the end of the video.

The band’s drummer John Otto shared a statement just prior to the band taking the stage. “Today is going to be tough,” he wrote. “A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now. You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend — my brother. There will never be another you.”

He continued: “We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us. Thank you to our fans for all the messages of support and tributes to Sam. It means the world to us. This one’s for you Sammy.”

Video of the tribute can be seen below.
