AEW star and former TBS Champion Kris Statlander will challenge former NWA World Women’s Champ Kamille on next week’s episode of Dynamite in Cleveland, Ohio. Ahead of the show, Statlander chatted about her career, her dream entrance songs, bouncing back from injuries and much more with Web Is Jericho writer and Youngstown Studio’s B.J. Lisko.
Statlander was also asked what the current vibe is in the AEW locker room. “I’d say the vibes are great,” she said. “It’s a lot of people that care a lot about not just wrestling, not just women’s wrestling, but AEW. It’s a lot of people that just want to constantly prove themselves, prove that we are worthy of our spots and just put on the best match, best show possible. It’s really good to be surrounded by that much passion and inspiration, because we feed off each other, and it makes it easier to come to work knowing you’re there with people who want to work also.”
Statlander also shared what it’s like working for AEW CEO Tony Khan. “It’s great,” she said. “It’s great to work for someone who has so much passion for wrestling and for the wrestlers that work for him. With that, like I said you usually get a good group of people that want to put on the best show for wrestling and AEW. To show that wrestling is a fun, amazing thing when done well. There’s nothing better than that when (you’re) walking away from a show, and being like, ‘Today was a good day. It feels good. We all worked hard. We all participated in this. This is a group effort every day.’ It’s nice when a group effort is successful.”
