Kid Rock’s new single, “We the People,” rips social media, the news media, the U.S. president and a an infectious disease expert before making a plea for coming together. The Michigan native released three new tracks at midnight on Tuesday. The other songs are “The Last Dance,” inspired by his parents’ 50-year marriage, and “Rockin,” a country ballad. “We the People” features Kid Rock’s familiar rap-rock stylings and the chorus, “Let’s go Brandon,” an anti-Joe Biden code phrase. “We the people in all we do, reserve the right to scream, ‘F— you!” Rock says in the song. “Wear your mask, take your pills. Now a whole generation is mentally ill,” he continues. Other lyrics include: “We gotta act quick, shut our borders down. Joe Biden does, the media embraces. Big Don does it and they call him racist. Inflation’s up, like the minimum wage. So it’s all the same, not a damn thing changed.”
He also decries racism in the song. “You piece of (s—), I don’t see color,” he says, and when a chorus chants “Black lives matter” he answers, “no (s—), mother (f——!”) before a call for togetherness, “We gotta keep fighting for right to be free. And every human being doesn’t have to agree. We all bleed red, brother, listen to me. It’s time for love and unity.” Few are spared in the song, with Kid Rock yelling, “F— Facebook. F— Twitter, too. And the mainstream media, F— you, too!”
