Kid Rock is set to play another run of live dates in support of his new album, “Bad Reputation,” which was released earlier this year. He’s been making the rounds doing interviews, too, and most notably had a one-on-one conversation with Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Carlson asked Kid Rock, “Why haven’t you been canceled? Like, people aren’t allowed to say what they think. You are.”

Rock says he’s “uncancelable, ‘cause I don’t give a s*it. I’m not in bed with any big corporate things. At the end of the day, there’s nobody I’m beholden to: no record companies, no corporate interests, no nothing. You can’t cancel me. I love it when they try.” Rock also revealed insight to his friendship with former president Donald Trump. He and Trump stay in touch and occasionally play golf together. “He just knows how to have fun,” Rock said. “Doesn’t take it too seriously. He’s engaging. He’s just cutting it up, open with politics.”

This week, Kid Rock released a new video for the song “Never Quit.” In the video, a Black man discovers his store has been vandalized in a predominantly white town. The camera shows a framed photo of the store owner with a white man he served in the military with, an image of Jesus and a thin blue line flag. The community rallies around the man to help him clean up and re-open his store, and the vandals themselves show up to help rebuild. After one confesses what happened, the store owner tells police, but instead of having them busted, he employs them at his store.

“I’m gonna dig deeper, tote guns and smoke reefer,” Kid Rock sings on the track. “You bottom feeders and social media sl*ts / I’m still the salt and the swing, the king of don’t give a f*ck.” He continues with the chorus: “I’m gonna fight like a G, they all gonna see, and if I die, I’m gonna die free. Ain’t gonna run like a b*tch when sh*t gets thick. Tell everyone… I’ll Never Quit.”

Earlier this summer, Kid Rock was set to perform at the North Dakota State Fair to some 18,000 fans. Unfortunately for concertgoers, the show couldn’t go as planned due to weather conditions, and some in the audience vented their frustrations following the cancelation. TMZ reported that the nix of the concert triggered “an angry backlash from fans who trashed the venue.” Exacerbating fan frustration was the fact that earlier in the night, Rock’s opener Night Ranger played an extended set at the event. Kid Rock posted on social media about the decision: “SO P*SSED OFF we could not play for a sold out crowd tonight in Minot, ND (because of high winds) – I know it sucks but none of us can control mother nature. Please be safe leaving and take care of each other.”
