Kenny Omega Speaks Candidly On Life After Near-Fatal Diverticulitis Battle

Not only was Kenny Omega’s career at risk, but so was his life when he went down with diverticulitis in 2023. Thankfully, the surgery that removed around 20 inches worth of intestines and colon would be considered successful, and has allowed the Canadian to resume wrestling. However, during a new interview with Shak, the 42-year-old has disclosed that he is still suffering from the effects of diverticulitis despite having had the surgery mentioned above, noting, “Some days I feel good, some days I don’t.

“What I have effects me every day. Some days I feel good, some days I don’t. So I not only have to find how much I can push myself on the days I feel good, but I have to find my limit on days when I feel bad. And I’m trying to do that without making it very obvious that there are bad days and good days for Kenny Omega.”Kenny Omega

Omega, real name Tyson Smith, was one of AEW’s first signings, and while his time with the promotion has been very memorable, he has unfortunately missed considerable ring time due to hernia and knee surgeries in addition to his diverticulitis diagnosis. He was also suspended for his part in the now-infamous All Out post-show brawl, further reducing his ring time, although based on what is known about the backstage altercation, he was one of the cooler heads involved.
