Journey’s Jonathan Cain Shares Surprising News About Band’s Anniversary Tour

It very much seemed like Journey keyboard/guitar player Jonathan Cain was about to part ways with the band. Cain and guitarist Neal Schon are in the midst of a very public feud that has seen Schon file cease-and-desist orders against the keyboard player and songwriter.

First, Schon filed suit that he wasn’t granted access to Journey’s financial records. After that, he sent a cease-and-desist letter to Cain for playing “Journey’s mega-hit “Don’t Stop Believin’” at an event for former president Donald Trump.

Most recently, Schon got ticked and filed another suit towards Cain’s wife, Paula White-Cain. The New York Post reported that White-Cain is “being accused of allegedly giving herself access to the . . . accounts without Schon’s knowledge or consent,” according to a Dec. 12 letter from Schon’s attorney.

Schon recently confirmed via social media that original co-founding keyboardist Gregg Rolie would appear on Journey’s upcoming 50th anniversary tour. A fan commented on Schon’s Facebook post promoting the tour by saying: “I am SO looking forward to this. Please tell me Gregg Rollie is coming along for the ride! He’s the better keyboard player and a co-founder it only seems right. Timing couldn’t be better either!!!!”

In a response, Schon wrote: “you’ll be seeing him”.

With all of that, it would be easy to surmise that Cain wouldn’t be in tow for the tour, but that doesn’t seem to be the case as the keyboardist made reference to the trek in a photo he posted of he and his wife skiing. It should also be noted that Journey uses many musicians on stage, including two percussionists, multiple guitar players and often two keyboard players.

“I feel very grateful and blessed to share this time on the slopes with my Baby before hitting the road with JOURNEY. #grateful #blessed #mountains #love #ski”” he wrote.

Cain, Schon and former Journey vocalist Steve Perry share writing credit for “Don’t Stop Believin’”, which is one of the most recognizable and successful songs in rock history.
