WWE was rocked to its core when Janel Grant’s lawsuit went public and seemingly revealed the type of person Vince McMahon really is. Subsequently, the company distanced itself from its former owner, and many talents who worked for McMahon have since condemned his alleged behavior. However, John Cena is now the target of online backlash after he broke his silence on the allegations during an interview with Howard Stern, where he publicly stated he still loves his former boss.
“Right now, what I’m gonna do is love the person I love, be their friend, and by that I mean, ‘I love you; you’ve got a hill to climb.’ There is the saying of, ‘Hey, you don’t know who your friends are until sh*t hits the fan or your back is against the wall.’ That doesn’t make any of what’s going on any easier to swallow.”

Still, it should be noted that McMahon remains innocent until proven guilty, and perhaps Cena doesn’t believe the man who made him a millionaire and household name could be a bad person. Still, it will be interesting to see whether Cena addresses the backlash, as it’s known he is very conscious of his brand, having previously apologized to China for calling Taiwan a country while promoting F9.
