Jim Ross Addresses Steve Austin WrestleMania 42 Match Rumors

Jim Ross has shut down rumors that Steve Austin will wrestle at WrestleMania 42, after speculation arose following reports that he has been invited to attend Raw, which takes place on WWE 3/16 in San Antonio, Texas. On his Grilling JR podcast, Ross stated, “As far as having another match, I don’t see it,” explaining Austin prioritizes his health nowadays. This is likely in reference to lingering issues from both neck and knee injuries that forced Austin into early retirement.

“As far as to have another match, I don’t see it. He’s just, it’s not where his head is, and he’s trying to take care of himself health-wise. To make an appearance, or to shoot an angle, or something along those lines,  I could see that potentially happening. But as far as to wrestle, no way.– Jim Ross

61-year-old Austin made a triumphant in-ring return at WrestleMania 38 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which was his first match in 19 years. After weeks of buildup, where Kevin Owens disrespected Texas and invited Austin as a guest on The KO Show, he challenged the WWE Hall of Famer to an impromptu No Holds Barred match. Austin accepted, and the two men delivered a hard-hitting brawl that delighted the 80,000 fans in attendance, a nostalgic highlight that will be almost impossible to top.
