During a recent interview, Jerry Lawler revealed he hopes to wrestle one final match despite having suffered his third stroke earlier this year. And now on his popular podcast, Jim Ross has expressed strong reservations about his long-time broadcast partner returning to the ring, saying, “I hope not, I don’t see how he could do it.” Ross suspects his fellow WWE Hall of Famer is having difficulty letting go of his legendary 50-plus-year wrestling career, noting, “He loves the business so much.“
76-year-old Lawler debuted in professional wrestling in 1970 and, over the decades, established himself as a true Memphis legend, holding the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship a record 28 times and famously feuding with Andy Kaufman. However, he is likely best known to most fans for his time in WWE, having joined the company in 1992, where, in addition to wrestling, he became an iconic color commentator alongside Ross. Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007, he is still with the company under a WWE Legends contract, allowing the company to monetize his likeness through video games and action figures.
