During Ohio Valley Wrestling’s latest television taping, Referee Dallas Edwards was knocked unconscious, suffering a severe head impact that led to a violent seizure in the ring while the match continued around him. And now Jim Cornette has unleashed a blistering rant on his YouTube channel, labeling it a potential lawsuit and slamming his former promotion as a “fantasy camp” trying to “mimic and copy the big promotions.“
“The bosses over at OVW better have deep pockets because if this ain’t a lawsuit, I’ve never seen one, either from this kid or from his family. We don’t know yet. All we’ve seen is the video that’s been put out … It’s become a fantasy camp environment, not only in OVW but in all of these places. They all want to mimic and copy the big promotions, but they’re still trying to do all the dangerous stuff that even the professionals get hurt doing.” – Jim Cornette
64-year-old Cornette joined OVW in July 1999 as part-owner, head booker, trainer, TV producer, and commentator, partnering with founder Danny Davis and Rip Rogers. As a WWE developmental territory, he turned OVW into a top talent factory, producing weekly TV shows and producing future stars like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Randy Orton. His intense, traditional approach defined OVW’s golden era until July 2005, when disputes over WWE’s creative control and an incident in which Cornette slapped Santino Marella led to his departure and the sale of his stake in early 2007.
