“Jackass” Star Steve-O Names Metal Album That Killed His Urges For Women

Last month, “Jackass” star Steve-O made headlines when he shared a difficult update on his former co-star Bam Margera.

Steve-O revealed that he was taking Margera on tour as his comedy opener in an effort to find his friend another creative outlet and to help the 43-year-old Pennsylvania native stay sober. Steve-O shared a now-deleted social media post that indicated that Bam took a turn for the worse while on tour, and he has since expressed regret over making the post.

“Bam, last night you had your five-year-old son with you on stage at my show, and you were blessed with the chance to spend another day or two with him — then as soon as you left my show, you stayed up all night getting loaded,” Steve-O wrote. “You’re dying, brother, and it sucks that I can’t do anything to save you.”

Troubles aside, the “Jackass” crew are big fans of hard rock, punk and heavy metal, and Steve-O talked about his love for metal and other genres in a new interview with Metal Hammer. He also named Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” album as the record that killed his sex drive as a teenager.

“That was a moment in time that was riddled with angst for me,” Steve-O said. “I remember trying to cope with hormones and being overpowered by urges to have sex and sh*t like that, and all the angst that came with puberty and sexual desire was really alleviated by the brutality of ‘Master Of Puppets.’”

Steve-O also had high praise for Dio, Iron Maiden and Slayer.

On Iron Maiden’s “Number Of The Beast” being his favorite album artwork: “I think Iron Maiden has that sewn up. It’s hard to think of another band like them when it comes to cool album covers, which is funny because their sense for aesthetics was really limited to their album covers – boy did they look f*cking lame in all that spandex! Ha ha! But I can’t hold that against them because I love Iron Maiden and The Number Of The Beast cover art is incredible.”

On the album he would hand to a kid that asked him what metal is: “F*ck man, I guess I have to go with (Slayer’s) “Reign In Blood.” It just got so real at that point. It’s like when you go out on a piece of ice and it floats too far for you to be able to step back on dry land; I was definitely too far-gone to be integrated into any sort of normal social circle after hearing that album.”

On the most underrated album: “This one is easy for me, dude… Holy Diver by Dio. That entire album is a f*cking masterpiece from front to back. I think it’s a real shame that Ronnie James Dio never had the global domination that Ozzy did. Blizzard Of Ozz was a f*cking greatest hits album in its own right – there’s no taking that away from Ozzy – but I would argue that Holy Diver was every bit as much of a masterpiece.”
