Jack Evans Reveals He Won’t Be Re-Signing With AEW Saying He “Wasn’t Giving Any Added Value To The Company”

It isn’t a secret that AEW won’t be re-signing several talents that the company recruited when they first launched. This is because they now have a much more extensive roster and, in many cases, have upgraded significantly due to WWE’s mass releases. Previously, Joey Janela and Marko Stunt were two talents informed they wouldn’t be retained, and now Jack Evans can be added to that list.

Evans would announce this himself on Twitter. Yet while replying to fans, he would show he isn’t bitter, acknowledging that he wasn’t adding value to the product and believes the time he was absent from the ring played a part.

Evans’ AEW signing was announced in May 2019, and he would reform his Los Güeros del Cielo tag team with Angélico under the name of The Hybrid2. Initially, they were prominently feated appearing at AEW’s inaugural pay-per-view event Double or Nothing, Fight for the Fallen, and on the Buy-in for All Out. Since then, he and Angélico have become AEW Dark regulars, with his last high-profile match being a hair vs. hair match with Orange Cassidy on Rampage in September 2021.

The belief is now he will continue his career in Mexico, with him wrestling twice for RIOT last month, and he, his wife, and young children living in the country. While there is speculation that this news could also signify the end of  Angélico’s time with AEW, his contract status isn’t known as writing. But as he has twice wrestled for AEW this month without Evans as part of the AFO, Tony Khan may see value in retaining him.
