The promoter behind DPW is Dirty Ron McDonald, real name Michael Gordon, who began wrestling on the indies in 2015. Subsequently, he would appear on WWE television the following year as an enhancement talent against Braun Strowman. However, he is likely best known in the business for being arrested after being accused of false imprisonment with violence in 2022. This would see XPW, which is a notoriously sleazy company, publicly cutting ties with him, although he ended up returning when the heat died down.
