On Saturday, the world was shocked to find out that Ian Watkins, the former Lostprophets frontman, who had been incarcerated since 2013 for horrific crimes against children, was dead. Since then, two men, one aged 25 and another 43, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, with some online praising their alleged killers for their actions.
And now Watkins’ ex-girlfriend Joanne Mjadzelics, who was involved in him being convicted, has spoken out and commented on his brutal death while speaking to the Daily Mail, saying, “I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner, was always waiting for this phone call.”
48-year-old Watkins was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, and rose to prominence by co-founding the band Lostprophets with bandmates Lee Gaze and Mike Lewis in 1997. Subsequently, the rock band achieved significant success in the 2000s, with their music even featured in a WWE music video for Jeff Hardy. However, after releasing five studio albums, the band disbanded due to Watkins’ criminal conviction.
