Rey Mysterio revealed via Instagram on Tuesday afternoon that after being written off WWE television on SmackDown, he had undergone his 13th knee surgery. At the time, it wasn’t known how long the legendary luchador would be out; however, HausOfWrestling.com has now reported he is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Therefore, this would give Mysterio a chance to return in time for the Royal Rumble in January.
“He is expected to be out of action for around six to eight weeks while he recovers and will likely resume his feud with Escobar when he returns.”
HausOfWrestling.com48-year-old Mysterio is one of the most beloved pro wrestlers of all time, and his influence can never be underestimated. Considering his initial WWE run started in 2002, the fact that he is still one of the promotion’s top stars is remarkable and illustrates his ability to stay relevant. Yet, he has recently revealed he only has a couple of years left in the ring, and when the day does come for him to give his final 619, nobody who watched him perform will forget his incredible ability.
