How Close Bray Wyatt Came To Signing With AEW Has Been Reported

Once WWE unexpectedly released Bray Wyatt on July 31, 2021, fans began to speculate about where he would end up competing, with many assuming AEW would give him home. Yet, despite his free agent status lasting over a year, he would never work elsewhere. Now, though, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s been reported that he did appear to be AEW-bound at one time, with the promotions broadcast partner even being given a start date. However, the deal fell through for money-related reasons.

“At one point TNT was told of a date for him to debut in AEW, but it fell through, believed to be money related.”

Wyatt’s WWE return was one of the most hyped of all time, with WWE hiding QR codes throughout their programs, leading fans to clues about his upcoming return. Nevertheless, while his re-debut at Extreme Rules was a huge success, he quickly cooled down thanks to sub-par creative involving his real-life brother Bo Dallas, who portrayed a character called Uncle Howdy, which seemingly dragged on for months. And now, there will never be a pay-off to the angle following his tragic passing at just 36 years of age.
