Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson doesn’t like it when people smoke — cigarettes or otherwise — while he’s performing. He doesn’t like flares going off, either, and few times on the band’s current tour, Dickinson has admonished fans from the stage for annoying him.
Back in September, Dickinson called out a handful of fans who were smoking grass right in front of him and his Maiden bandmates.
“I don’t know what it is,” the singer told the crowd, as seen in a YouTube video. “There’s so many f*cking people smoking so much f*cking dope down here, I’m amazed you can even see. Poor old Steve [Harris, Maiden bassist]. I don’t know if you know, but he absolutely f*cking hates marijuana and the smell of it, all right? So when he’s trying to play bass, it f*cks him up. It f*cks me up. I’m a singer, all right? So duh.
“I would just ask for a tiny bit of respect,” he added. “If you want to go get completely stoned out of your f*cking mind, go out the back and do it. All right? Otherwise you’re going to end up like this f*cking knucklehead here going ‘uhhhh.'”
A week later, Dickinson again blasted fans in the audience saying: “The smell of the crowd. Oh, I love the smell of sweaty human f*cking bodies. It’s the weird sh*t that you smoke that f*cks me up. And the bass player. We f*cking hate it. Please, if you’re gonna go get f*cking wrecked, f*cking wreck yourself out the back and then come back, all right? ‘Cause we are having a f*cking great time up here and I wanna enjoy every minute of it. I don’t wanna do [adopts stoner drawl], ‘Where the f*ck am I, dude?'”
Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta took to Twitter to respond to Dickinson’s complaints. “Bruce Dickinson if you read this. Hi. You’re a great vocalist/frontman. We took your son’s band on tour. Hope you are well. Just so ya know. Lots of people like to smoke weed at outdoor concerts. WHAT DOESN’T ANNOY YOU BRO?!?! Besides flying planes? Lol you might need a puff or 2”.
Hatebreed previously toured with Rise To Remain, a group that was once fronted by Dickinson’s son, Austin.
Earlier this year, Dickinson blasted a fan as a “Greek c*nt” and a “f*cking c*cksucker” for lighting off a flare at the band’s show in Athens, Greece.
