Last weekend, Guns N’ Roses kicked off their Latin American tour. During the band’s show in Buenos Aires, singer Axl Rose was visibly frustrated during their opening song and could be seen kicking drummer Isaac Carpenter’s bass drum and later throwing his microphone into the drum kit.

Some fans speculated that he was less than pleased with Carpenter, but most reasoned he was having trouble hearing himself on stage. Guns N’ Roses indeed confirmed that it was the latter issuing a statement explaining the incident.

“During the opening song at our recent Buenos Aires concert, Axl’s in-ear monitor pack had only the percussion in his ears versus his entire mix,” the statement read. “The issue was fixed by our tech team by the third song, and we had a great night. The situation had nothing to do with Isaac Carpenter’s playing, who is top notch and a great drummer.”

The band also recently made headlines when guitarist Slash hinted that a long-awaited new album might be in the works. “Everybody is thinking about it,” he told Guitar World. “There’s so much material at this point – it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f*cking get into it. But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”
