In harrowing news, a GoFundMe has had to be launched for the former partner of Balls Mahoney and their son, Chris, due to the risk of homelessness. According to the campaign, Gayle, who was considered by many to be the former ECW wrestler’s wife, is now wheelchair-bound and is being evicted just weeks before Christmas. As the modest amount of $1,500 to cover moving costs and secure a new home is all that has been requested, so hopefully, the target can be met sooner rather than later.
Mahoney, born Jonathan Rechner, was a hardcore wrestling icon, best known for his chaotic, weapon-wielding run in ECW alongside Axl Rotten as The Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks. And while many thought his career would be limited to the indies once ECW folded, he actually received another shot at WWE fame thanks to the company reviving the brand. However, after being released, he tragically passed away at the age of just 44 in 2016.
