During DDT’s Judgement event back in March, which was the 28th anniversary show for the Japanese promotion, Chris Brookes defeated Masahiro Takanashi in the main event. However, 42 year old Takanashi sadly suffered a neck injury at the conclusion of the match, leaving fans worrying about his health.
Subsequently, it was reported that Takanashi had undergone surgery due to C5 and C6 vertebrae fractures and damage to his cervical spinal cord, leaving him hospitalized. And now, in an attempt to raise funds to assist jis “battle for survival,” AEW’s Emi Sakura has launched a GoFundMe in an attempt to raise $40,000 in donations.
Takanashi broke into the business in 2003 after initially training with Último Dragón and the DDT dojo. And while he has always called DDT home, he has worked for multiple other promotions, which led to him working alongside Sakura as her lackey in Ice Ribbon, which explains how they became real-life friends.
