Pop star Britney Spears has been at battle with her family over her conservatorship, which controlled her estimated $60 million estate for nearly 14 years. Spears has received an unlikely ally in KISS bassist Gene Simmons, who tweeted about Spears’ situation. Simmons shared a TMZ article about Spears’ estranged father asking for her to sit for a deposition. “Ok. Not usually an area I comment on. But here goes,” Simmons wrote. “@britenyspears_earned her money the hard way — she worked for it…No one, including parents and family should have any say regarding her finances. Period.”
Spears previously said of her family in court, “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship — and my management, who played a huge role in punishing me when I said no — ma’am, they should be in jail.” Spears opened up on Instagram last month, “From every angle I was being hurt for no reason and my family was hurting me. I went into a state of shock and the way I coped was being (in) fake denial. It was too much to really face … Honestly my family embarrassed me and hurt me deeply.”
KISS is set to release a new live record, “Off The Soundboard: Live In Virgina Beach” on March 11. Earlier this month, the band released a live version of “Lick It Up” from the album. KISS also recently announced a handful of new U.S. shows as part of the band’s ongoing “End Of The Road” tour. The four rescheduled concerts will take place in May after they were postponed last year.
