KISS wrapped up their “End Of The Road” world tour late last year and announced that they would continue in the future as digital avatars. Since almost no band has ever managed to stay retired, many fans speculate that KISS will return to the live stage at some point, just not in a touring capacity but rather for one-off shows and/or a Las Vegas residency. Rumors of a KISS unplugged tour have surfaced in recent days, too.
Bassist/singer Gene Simmons has previously played solo shows where he delves deeper into the KISS catalog. “Doing these smaller concert halls, which hold a thousand to three thousand people, means they get filled up by real diehard fans,” he previously said. “They don’t want to hear the ‘same old, same old.’ They want to hear nuggets, as they say. It’s a hoot for me because I’ve never really had a chance to do this stuff live. It’s been a lot of fun.”
Simmons is planning a return to the stage with his solo band later this year, and the first show has been announced for April 26 at the Summer Breeze festival in São Paulo. Simmons will be joined by guitarists Brent Woods (Wildside, Sebastian Bach, Vince Neil), Zach Throne (Corey Taylor), and drummer Brian Tichy (Lynch Mob, The Dead Daisies, Whitesnake).
Other acts confirmed for Summer Breeze include Mr. Big, Sebastian Bach, Anthrax, Mercyful Fate, Hammerfall, Killswitch Engage and Exodus, among many others.
