After a heartbreaking 2025 marked by the April passing of his beloved partner Sondra Culbertson and a relapse that brought him face-to-face with death, deathmatch legend Nick Gage has staged a stunning recovery. This was revealed by GCW’s Brett Lauderdale, who has confirmed on X that in less than three months, the 45-year-old has transformed his physique and seemingly his mindset, having broken free from decades of addiction.
Gage, real name Nick Wilson, debuted in CZW in 1999 and established himself as a world-class deathmatch wrestler. However, both his life and career were derailed in 2010, when a bank robbery led to prison time. Still, after his release, he successfully returned to the business he loved as part of GCW and became a legitimate draw on the indies. And while it had looked like he would work for a major company, he memorably wrestled Chris Jericho during a 2021 episode of Dynamite, which will likely go down as the pinnacle of his career.
