Brian Jossie worked for WWE as Abraham Washington between 2009 and 2012 as both a wrestler and manager, sharing a ring with names such as Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, and Big E in developmental. Still, he has been out of the business for several years, having decided life as an indie wrestler wasn’t for him.
And now, in concerning news, it has been revealed by DukeLovesRasslin that Jossie was recently hospitalized, with an unspecified medical condition requiring him to be on life support. Thankfully, the 48-year-old has since returned home, and according to the YouTuber, he has almost made a full recovery.
Jossie initially wanted to be an in-ring performer, but WWE seemingly saw him as a mouthpiece for others, as he would be presented as the manager of Primo and Epico and then The Prime Time Players on the main roster. Yet, his time in the big leagues was short, with his most memorable moment being when he said on-air that “Titus O’Neil is like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado, he’s unstoppable,” which was a reference to past allegations made against the NBA star.
Therefore, when Jossie was released by the company less than two weeks later, most assumed it was due to his controversial remark, which Michael Cole had apologized for at the time. However, Jossie claims the real reason for his WWE exit was because he supported Linda McMahon’s senate campaign on social media, which was forbidden at the time, as McMahon was embarrassed by her connection to the company.
