Former WWE Champion Was Backstage At NWA’s Latest Powerrr Taping

In news that could end up being meaningful for Billy Corgan’s NWA or totally inconsequential, RingsideNews.com has reported that Jinder Mahal was backstage at the latest NWA Powerrr TV tapings on February 21, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The former WWE Champion, released by WWE in 2024, was reportedly visiting friends on the roster rather than attending in an official capacity. Still, his presence has sparked fan speculation about potential future opportunities with NWA, which returns to Tampa for more tapings on April 25.

Ringside News has learned that Dhesi was in attendance at the event, appearing to visit friends on the NWA roster rather than working in an official capacity. Even so, his presence didn’t go unnoticed.” – RingsideNews.com

39-year-old Mahal, real name Yuvraj Dhesi, began his career on the independent circuit in 2004 and subsequently joined WWE in 2010. His career highlight then came in 2017, when he became the first wrestler of Indian heritage to win the WWE Championship, holding it for 170 days. Still, he would never achieve the same legendary status as past WWE world champions and was released in 2024, after which he continued his career on the indies, seemingly having had no interest from AEW.
