Legendary rockers Soundgarden were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. During the induction ceremony, the group performed with a variety of singers standing in for their late, iconic frontman Chris Cornell including Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless.
Momsen has often said her favorite band is Soundgarden, and four years ago, the group’s drummer Matt Cameron and guitarist Kim Thayll guested on The Pretty Reckless song “Only Love Can Save Me Now.” While the surviving members of Soundgarden have occasionally performed for low-key gatherings and/or special events, they remain one of the few big bands from that era yet to reunite in a full, touring capacity. Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains and Linkin Park have all recruited new vocalists and continued to tour.
With that being said, could Soundgarden reform with Momsen as their singer? She tells The Zach Sang Show that she would be all in if asked. “They are a force unto themselves that is unlike anyone else,” she said. “They are some of my like closest friends. I love them to death. And the reality is I’m here for anything they want or need. Like if they call me, I’m there. It’s that simple.”
“I love Soundgarden more than anything in the world,” she also told the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Getting to play with them anytime and honoring them and supporting them in any way I can, I feel like it’s what I’m meant to do. I love them, and I have so much fun with them every time. I’m so proud of them, and I’m so happy for them.”
While a Momsen/Soundgarden pairing might be in the works at some point in the future, it would likely have to happen after The Pretty Reckless finish the second leg of their upcoming North American tour with rock icons AC/DC. Those dates run through September of 2026. The band has also released new music recently, and their fifth full-length album should be arriving at some point next year.
