At WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena’s final match ended with Gunther defeating the 17-time world champion via submission. This booking decision was incredibly controversial and left many fans upset. And now fan-filmed footage has surfaced of Guntherr leaving the Capital One Arena in Washington, showing him heavily booed, and “F*ck you” chants can be clearly heard.
39-year-old Gunther, real name Walter Hahn, dominated the European indie scene before signing with WWE in 2019. Subsequently, he held the NXT UK Championship for a record 870 days, then set Intercontinental Title marks with a 666-day reign. Yet while he has twice won World Heavyweight Champion in 2024-2025, he will likely be best remembered as the man who defeated both Goldberg and Cena in their final matches, making him one of the biggest heels in recent history.
