Guitarist Jake E. Lee performed with Ozzy Osbourne from 1982 to 1987 appearing on two studio albums, “Bark at the Moon” (1983) and “The Ultimate Sin” (1986). This past summer, Lee got the chance to re-connect with his former boss at the Back To The Beginning farewell show for Black Sabbath and Ozzy.
On a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Lee talked about a variety of topics including joining Ozzy after the death of Randy Rhoads, working with Ozzy in the studio, meeting Lemmy and the chaos of touring with “The Prince of Darkness.” Lee also shared what it was like to re-connect with Ozzy and his wife Sharon after being out of touch for several years. Sharon had some heartbreaking words for the guitar great who was asked to make sure he had a moment with Ozzy.
“Sharon came up to me during the dinner the night of the show,” Lee recalled. “She came up to me and found me and gave me a couple passes to get into a special area. And she said, ‘After the show, Ozzy’s gonna be in this area, and he really wants to talk to you again.’ I said, ‘OK.’ And she said, ‘No, try to make it.’ And she whispered in my ear, ‘He doesn’t have long,’ That was kind of … not eerie, but’ … Oh s*it, this is serious.”
