Eric Bischoff Comments On WWE Bringing Back Halloween Havoc

Halloween Havoc was an iconic World Championship Wrestling pay-per-view which ran from 1989 through 2000. Despite taking ownership of the name when purchasing WCW, Vince McMahon hadn’t previously utilized it because he hates to put over anything made successful by his former rivals. Seemingly though, the Wednesday Night Wars have mellowed his stance on that, as WWE is finally bringing back the event as a special edition of NXT on October 28th.

During the latest episode of his 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff podcast, the former President of WCW would share his opinion on WWE belatedly putting the name to use.

I think it’s great. Wrestling fans have a long memory, and they love the legacy and the nostalgia and the history. And I think the fact that WWE is bringing back Halloween Havoc in whatever version is number one, paying homage to a great pay-per-view series. Halloween Havoc went on to become, at least in my opinion, one of the more important pay-per-views of the year for WCW. So, I think it’s great, and hopefully, it’ll be a tradition that continues long into the future.Eric Bischoff

In July, WWE revived The Great American Bash, also a former WCW pay-per-view, as two special editions of NXT. These shows were a big success and resulted in two rare victories for NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars. This success likely prompted WWE to finally utilize the asset they’ve owned for almost 20 years.
