Former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion EC3 has claimed in an interview with Sportshadow that the major wrestling promotions have blackballed him. The 42-year-old attributes this exclusion to his outspoken “honest truth,” stating that some industry figures “can’t handle” his candidness. Additionally, EC3 admitted to having mixed feelings about wrestling, noting that some moments make him question his continued involvement in the business.
“I’m also blackballed from most of those places because some people can’t handle my honest truth, and that’s fine. What matters to me is figuring out what I still love about wrestling. But over the past few weeks and months, there have also been moments that made me realize there are things about the business that I really dislike. Sometimes it even makes me question why I’m still involved in it.” – EC3
Professional wrestling’s history is riddled with blackballing controversies in which powerful promotions exclude wrestlers over disputes, scandals, or outspoken criticism. Examples include Jeff Jarrett, Lex Luger, and Randy Savage, all of whom left WWE on bad terms but were eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame. There are also plenty of lesser-known ones, like Velveteen Dream, Sexy Star, and Joey Ryan, who will likely never be booked for any major promotion again, simply because their involvement would likely spark negative reactions online and at the box office.
