Dutch Mantell Reveals Why He Was Recently Hospitalized

Last month, legendary pro wrestler, manager, and booker Dutch Mantell concerned fans when he announced on Facebook that he had been hospitalized. At the time, the reason he required medical treatment wasn’t disclosed; however, having now recovered enough to resume his popular YouTube show, he has revealed that he was dealing with the bacterial infection E. Coli, which led to sepsis.

“I found out later, not only did I have sepsis, but I had E. Coli too on top of that. So now I’m battling E. Coli. I must have had E. Coli first, and it caused the sepsis. Let me highly advise not getting any one of these viruses or germs or whatever it is because it will knock you down to your knees.”

74-year-old Mantell began wrestling in 1972 and eventually retired from the ring in 2013 during his final WWE run, which saw him memorable manage Jack Swagger, Cesaro, and Alberto Del Rio. Following this, he would work as a creative consultant for Impact Wrestling, yet this ended when Don Callis and Scott D’Amore joined the promotion as Executive Vice Presidents. Nowadays, having retired, his main focus is his family, as well as his aforementioned YouTube show.
