Dustin Rhodes Shares Updated Retirement Timeline

In October 2022, Dustin Rhodes concerned his fans when stating on social media he had some “heavy thinking” to do regarding his in-ring future. Subsequently he would announce that 2023 would be his final year as an active pro wrestler. However, with it now being 2024, Rhodes clearly went back on this, having wrestled for AEW on Dynamite, Collision, and Rampage this year. And now, during a recent interview with Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, he has revealed he hopes to wrestle for another 2-4 years if his legs allow him.

“[Retirement] has been on my mind. Last year, I said I got one year left, and I’m going past that. I don’t want to say that again because you never say never, right? I see myself, two to four more years, if my legs allow me to.”

54-year-old Rhodes broke into the business in 1988, and thanks to being the son of Dusty Rhodes, the young performer got the opportunity to work for WCW, All Japan, and WWE during his rookie years. And while nepotism is undoubtedly a part of pro wrestling, he would go on to prove he deserved his spot and ultimately cemented his legacy in the business as Goldust, a character he portrayed in WWE on and off between 1996 and 2018. Yet he is now finishing off his career without the need for gimmicks, except for that of a wily veteran that can still kick ass when needed.
