Duane Chapman, aka Dog The Bounty Hunter, has a new book, “Nine Lives and Counting: A Bounty Hunter’s Journey to Faith, Hope and Redemption.” Dog appeared on a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho where he talked about his methods for bounty hunting and some of the high-profile cases he’s worked.
Dog also talked about the success of his A&E reality show and shared that he got an assist from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne on how he should handle filming.
“You learn by wisdom and knowledge,” Dog said. “As you get into your 50s, you get it from God, this wisdom and knowledge that is incredible. What I got and I used it for was bounty hunting.”
He continued: “For instance, I’d take guys in the Bible that did things, I’d get the same treatment. (For example) Solomon. A king. God said, ‘What would you like the most? I’ll give you anything. Millions of women. Gold. What do you like?’ (Solomon) said, ‘You know what, Lord? I want knowledge.’ God said, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good.’”
“So I want to live like that. I want knowledge after 50, and I want to be able to see where (criminals are) at. I can look at a mugshot sometimes and say, ‘He’s gonna be driving in a car.’ I do this on TV, and they don’t give me no script. We were the only real reality show besides Ozzy and Sharon. They didn’t give her no scripts either. And she mentored me in the very beginning. Ozzy believes in Jesus, by the way. And so do the whole family. Jack is my friend. And they wrote my song for me, ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter.’ God provided all these people with the wisdom to teach me.”
