Disturbed Releases New Mix Of Steve Austin’s Theme Music

One of the most iconic wrestling entrance themes in history is Stone Cold Steve Austin’s “Glass Shatters” music. Written by Jim Johnston, the track originated when Austin asked the former WWE composer to create a feeling similar to Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls on Parade.”

The theme has had several variations through the years, including the remix by hard rock veterans Disturbed from 2001. Now the band has revisited the track and remixed it. It’s available on Spotify and will also featured on the band’s 25th Anniversary Edition of “The Sickness.”

“Disturbed is pleased to share a new mix of their song ‘Glass Shatters,‘ which is available for the first time ever on streaming services and includes a Stone Cold Steve Austin intro,” the band wrote in the song’s YouTube description.

Jim Johnston previously told SI of the song: “I had in my mind that this would be driving and low, but it needed something relentless about it. It needed to capture someone who entered a room and made you think, ‘God only knows what happens next.’ So I started playing driving notes on my guitar – dat dat dat dat dat in a minor key – that implied danger. I thought of a car accident, only because of the horrible sound it makes. Then I went to glass, but the sound of the glass was so thin that I needed to make it bigger so I added the car crash.”

The new four-minute remix of Disturbed’s take on the “Glass Shatters” theme is below.
