Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has revealed that the group’s forthcoming album, “The Sick, The Dying … And The Dead,” is “super close” to being released and that the album has been mastered and handed in to the band’s record label. Mustaine provided the details in a Cameo video. “We’re super close to having ‘The Sick, The Dying … And The Dead’ out,” Mustaine said. “We’ve been mixing and mastering it, and the mastering was done yesterday. So now it’s off to the label, and pretty soon it’s gonna be in your very talented hands.”

Mustaine previously said the record would be released sometime in spring of 2022 and has yet to reveal who played bass on the album after David Ellefson’s tracks were removed following his dismissal from the band earlier this year. Former Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo played with the band live on its recent tour with Lamb of God, Trivium and Hatebreed.

Recently, Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro talked about working with and learning from Mustaine since joining the band in 2015. “I learned watching him strive to be unstoppable, to be strong, to search for excellence, to demand excellence from everyone, and everyone delivers excellence, delivers their best,” Loureiro said in a video he uploaded to YouTube.

“And regarding guitar as well, the thrash metal essence. All the rhythms — mainly the rhythms and then the attitude and the force, the vibe, the drive, the intensity. So, all those things while you’re playing. Mixing the technical things with a lot of energy — like metal with punk with attitude. I think I’m a way better rhythm player because of just hanging and playing with Dave for all those years — since 2015. Also composing — he composes in a very different way than I do. And I think watching and learning from the way he does as well.”
