Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl shocked fans when he announced earlier this week that he had recently welcomed a child outside of his marriage.
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” Grohl wrote in a statement. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
Now, People reports that Grohl retained a divorce attorney before announcing his new child. Grohl has been married to his wife Jordyn Blum since 2003 and the couple shares three daughters. His eldest daughter also recently deactivated her Instagram account.
Grohl previously told Teen People that Blum was the first person he’d ever been truly honest with. “Now I’ve got nothing to hide,” Grohl said. “When you’re not trying to be someone else, being honest is easy.”
Grohl previously admitted to infidelity in his first marriage which ended in 1997. He has not shared any further details about the new baby or the mother of the child.
