Corey Taylor Reveals What He Wanted To Do Before He Became A Rock Star

Slipknot recently released their new album, “The End, So Far,” and it topped the U.K. chart marking the band’s third No. 1 in the country. The album was released on Sept. 30 via Roadrunner, and it’s the final album Slipknot will release with the label since first singing in 1998.

“It’s such a different label than it was when we first signed with it,” Taylor told NME of Roadrunner. “Once you’re in the hands of people who don’t care, it’s just a f*cking business. And that’s what happened. We’ve had to fight for every f*cking release that we’ve had because the people who now work for Roadrunner think they know what they’re doing and they just don’t. They’ve tried to give us f*cking advice, and we’re just like, ‘What are you talking about? What band do you think we are?’”

“This is almost like the second phase of Slipknot,” he continued. “The first phase was the original nine. The second phase was obviously dealing with loss, dealing with the loss of Paul, the loss of our innocence in a weird way, losing Joey, and reconfiguring in a way that was never gonna be like the original.”

As Taylor makes the publicity rounds, he’s answering numerous questions about the new record and more. In a recent interview, he revealed what he wanted to do before he became a rock star.

“I wanted to be a teacher, to be honest,” he told BBC’s 6Music. “I quickly learned… that I don’t have patience for any of this. None — not one drop. I realized that I was going to have to go to school for years and years and years and I also didn’t have patience for that. So, I just kind of tucked that love for history and whatnot into my back pocket and kind of waited for whatever to come to me.”

The vinyl version of Slipknot’s new album has a sticker over the album title on the cover. If you peel it off, the original jacket has the title “The End For Now…” below the band’s name. A Reddit user posted a photo with the mistake and several other fans confirmed the error.

“The End, So Far was the correct name. Somebody f*cked up and didn’t double check with us,” Taylor said in a recent Reddit AMA. The PRP also reports that the misprints have the songs “The Dying Song (Time To Sing)” named “Dying Song” and “Hive Mind” as “Hivemind.”
