In a recent interview to promote his latest solo album, “CMF2,” Corey Taylor discussed the current relationships between members of Slipknot.
The band has nine members. Simply by having that many musicians working together, there’s bound to be some disagreements along the way.
“We’re always up and down in Slipknot,” Taylor told the Feedback Def podcast. “We’re brothers, but we’re not always the best of friends. There’s a push and pull that comes with being in this band, and it’s largely because we’re all such different people… Now, you’re always going to be devoted to the band and and to each other, but, there’s a lot of times where, if you’re in disagreement with the people that you’re working with, or you’re creating with it’s gonna leak out once in a while, you know?”
Taylor also again commented on his health issues admitting that he’s not sure how much more touring his body can take.
“I just don’t know how much longer I can do it; between my spinal surgery, my knee surgeries, a litany of f*cking health issues that I’ve had over the years, it’s getting harder and harder to do it,” he said. “When I get on stage, I throw myself into the performance, and I come off stage, and obviously the adrenaline peels away, and I’m left just beat to sh*t. It’s getting harder for me to maintain that. It could be five years, could be 10, but there’s definitely a shelf life for how hard I can go. And if that’s the case, I don’t want to be the guy hobbling around on stage, trying to be the guy who he was 14 years before that.”
Taylor went on to say that while everyone in Slipknot might not always be the best of friends, they’re committed to the larger picture.
“That’s something that can reconfigure the way you look at shit very quickly. So, you know, as far as where we are as a band, we’re fucking awesome right now. Everybody’s good… So it’s been really, really good lately, and we’re actually really looking forward to the future, whatever that holds. But yeah, are we always going to get along? No. Are we always going to be dedicated to this? Yeah, we always will.”
