Confirmation Of Whether Brock Lesnar Was Paid During His Two-Year WWE Absence

Brock Lesnar made his shocking return to WWE television at the conclusion of SummerSlam Sunday to F5 John Cena just minutes after he’d dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. Apparently, WWE flew the former UFC star into Minnesota and then to Teterboro on Saturday, via private jet, and then hid him. And now it has been reported by Fightful Select that during his two-year absence, Lesnar was never suspended and therefore paid his downside guarantee in full despite being one of the highest earners in the company.

“We can confirm that Brock Lesnar was paid during his time off, and was among the highest paid talent on the WWE roster. He still had his downside guarantee, and there wasn’t a suspension. We personally never heard of a suspension discussed.”Fightful Select

After Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s horrific lawsuit, WWE immediately distanced itself from Lesnar, seemingly worried that utilizing him would further damage its reputation. Therefore, while it was always presumed he’d return at some point, the fact that the lawsuit is ongoing meant few expected him back this year. Still, it appears WWE management believed enough time had passed, and therefore, Lesnar is now back to at least work one match with John Cena.
