Veteran comedian and former “That Metal Show” co-host Jim Florentine has a new special, “You Can’t Please ‘Em All,” releasing on Sept. 27. The stand-up and New Jersey native is also a big NFL fan and frequently talks about it on stage and in his “Everybody Is Awful” podcast.
Florentine recently did an interview with Web Is Jericho writer and Youngstown Studio’s B.J. Lisko and talked about his new special, notorious pranks he’s pulled, farting in public, the Linkin Park reunion, the NFL and much more.
Lisko asked him what annoys him most about the NFL, and like a lot of football fans his answer was the constant attention given to pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“Can anyone be more overexposed than those two,” he said. “Those Kelce brothers cannot get enough attention. They’re everywhere. You gotta tone it down at some point, cause people are gonna get really sick of you really quick, and I feel like that’s already happening. When you date somebody at that level and everything has to be planned and there’s a million moving parts … you can’t focus on your job. You can’t focus on football, and he’s not. That’s high maintenance.”
Florentine continued: “Did you see that video of them at the U.S. Open singing that Darkness song? They knew the cameras were on them, and then they have to act like that. How much attention do those two need? It’s embarrassing at this point. Everyone knows who you are.”
