If asked to list the five most hated people in the wrestling business, many of those who worked for WWE between 2001 and 2022 would likely name John Laurinaitis, who went from being an agent to Head of Talent Relations. And now, during an interview with Cafe de Rene, former WWE tag team specialist Charlie Haas has taken aim at the man whom he blames for his and ex-wife Jackie Gayda’s WWE firing the day they returned from their honeymoon, calling him a “f*cking douchebag” and a “scumbag.”
53-year-old Haas was a decorated amateur wrestler, including a two-time Big East Champion at Seton Hall University, which led him to the indies, where he worked alongside his sadly deceased brother, Russ. From there, he signed with WWE in 2002 and formed The World’s Greatest Tag Team with Shelton Benjamin, and later was given the gimmick of impersonating other wrestlers, which, while memorable, was career-limiting. And while he still remains involved in the business, often as part of the Texas indie scene, it appears his mainstream career is behind him.
