Carmella Vents Her Frustration With WWE’s Stingy Paternity Leave For Corey Graves

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Carmella was no longer with WWE after the company declined to renew her contract. Subsequently, the ex-SmackDown Women’s Champion fired back, accusing the company of ghosting her outright and leaving her feeling “punished” for starting a family. And now, having just given birth to her second child and WWE commentator Corey Graves’ fifth, a boy named Bram Julian, Carmella has again criticized the company, this time via an Instagram Stories, for not giving Graves more paternity leave.

“It just sucked because his paternity leave started a week early, and since Bram was past his due date by the time he was born, Matt had to go back to work. He had to go back like five days after we came home from the hospital, which sucks, but I guess I’d rather have him leave a little early postpartum than have him miss the birth of his child. So we had to compromise, I guess, although I still think he should have way more time off than just five days after the baby’s born. That’s crazy, but you gotta do what you gotta do.”Carmella

38-year-old Carmella hasn’t competed in a WWE match since March 2023, when she participated in a 10-woman tag bout at Madison Square Garden. Her sudden hiatus sparked rumors of an injury, but she soon shared the uplifting news that she and Graves were expecting their first child together. And while they joyfully met their healthy newborn in November 2023, the ordeal of a grueling 60-hour labor has left Carmella with lingering mobility issues, casting doubt on whether she’ll ever lace up her boots again.
