Damian Trujillo of NBC Bay Area has reported that former UFC champion and WWE talent Cain Velasquez was arrested on Monday afternoon following a shooting. Police have not yet released much information, but it’s understood the man shot is currently in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As of writing, Velasquez is being held at the Santa Clara County Jail without bail.
Velasquez was a big star in UFC but announced his retirement from MMA in October 2019, following his WWE debut. However, due to being thrown in at the deep end and suffering an injury, his first match, which was against Brock Lesnar, was poorly received by fans. Following a single house show appearance in Mexico, he was sent to train at the Performace Center before being released. Since then, he has only wrestled one match, a six-man tag this past December at AAA’s TripleMania Regia.
