According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Warner Bros. Discovery management prevented Brody King from appearing on this week’s episode of Dynamite to avoid potential anti-ICE chants. For those unaware, the chant commenced during last week’s episode due to King’s well-known political stance on the subject and big-selling “Abolish ICE” t-shirt. And while this garnered AEW significant mainstream media attention, it appears WBD didn’t see this as a positive.
“The deal is that they didn’t want the fans in the arena to be chanting that. If Brody came out, there was that risk …This is again not a Tony call. This is from above. You know what it is, nobody wants to get on Trump’s bad side. If it wasn’t for that, nobody would care.” – Dave Meltzer
On February 4, 2026, during Dynamite’s Las Vegas episode, King squashed MJF thanks to Adam Page’s distraction, securing a title shot at this weekend’s upcoming Grand Slam Australia. Therefore, neither man appearing in person during this week’s episode of Dynamite was highly unexpected. As of writing, the match is still scheduled and will likely not feature the same fan chant, given that it’s taking place overseas. However, now that we know King may get limited time on AEW television in the future, it doesn’t bode well for those hoping he will win the AEW World Championship.
