Braun Strowman Reveals Backstage Resentment Over His Rapid WWE Rise

Braun Strowman signed with WWE in 2013, and by 2015, he was being pushed as a destructive force, initially aligned with The Wyatt Family. Subsequently, he won the 2018 Money in the Bank match, the Universal Championship, the Raw Tag Team Championships twice, the Intercontinental Championship, and the Greatest Royal Rumble. And now, in a new interview with Something’s Burning, he has revealed that many in the locker room resented him for not “paying dues,” even though he had a strongman background, including sleeping in his car, which went unnoticed amid the hostility.

“I’d had four wrestling matches my entire career, and then they debuted me on Monday Night Raw. Four matches … I wasn’t born into the business, and I didn’t come through the indies. I was an outsider. I was hated. Everyone was like, ‘F*ck this big guy,’ and all that stuff. There’s always that ‘he didn’t pay his dues’ thing. But people didn’t realize I was sleeping in my car, traveling around the world. I was North America’s Strongest Man in 2011.”Braun Strowman

During his time in WWE, 42-year-old Strowman, real name Adam Scher,r looked set to be a long-time main eventer thanks to feuds with Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and even Shane McMahon. However, due to a high salary, he was surprisingly released in 2021, and while he spoke to TNA, no deal could be agreed. Still, he returned to WWE in 2022, but due to several injuries, he never regained his momentum and was released again earlier this year.
