Bobby Roode Reveals Whether He Could Wrestle Again Following Multiple Neck Surgeries

Since last wrestling in June 2022, Bobby Roode has undergone at least two serious neck surgeries and has since been working as a backstage producer for WWE. However, when it was reported five months ago he was no longer listed as an active competitor within WWE, it appeared his time in the ring was officially over. And while that may still be the case, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, he revealed he has recently been cleared to return to the ring, although he added he is happy in his current role.

“I just got green-lighted, the fusion has completely fused. So as far as like, looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring, I guess. But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity that I’ve been given now to work as a producer, which was my goal coming to WWE almost eight years ago, I’m quite happy doing this. And I feel like I’ve had a good run, as they say, and I’m happy to do what I’m doing now.”

47-year-old Roode departed TNA after 12 years and almost 800 matches in the promotion in 2016, signing with WWE a few months later and debuting on NXT. Subsequently, he would win the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura, becoming the oldest NXT champion in the process. Then, following a seven-month reign that ended at the hands of Drew McIntyre, he would begin to transition to SmackDown. Once on the main roster, he would achieve success holding the US Championship before becoming a tag team competitor, winning championship gold, first with Chad Gable and then with Dolph Ziggler.
