Big Update On Andrade El Idolo’s Year-Long Non-Compete Following his shock WWE firing and subsequent return to AEW television, Andrade El Idolo was made aware that he had a year-long non-compete clause, which prevented him from signing with Tony Khan. Obviously, this came as a big blow to the luchador, with it being thought that the third-generation wrestler would lose a year of his in-ring career.
However, in some big breaking news, Fightful Select has reported that thanks to Rush setting him up with a lawyer familiar with WWE, a deal was agreed upon earlier this month to waive the clause. Whether this will now see him officially become All Elite in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but it seems likely, given that he has a ready-made feud with Kenny Omega waiting for him.
36-year-old Andrade, real name Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza, debuted in 2003 and rose to prominence in CMLL as La Sombra, capturing multiple championships in Mexico. From there, he signed with WWE in 2015, winning the NXT Championship and later the United States Championship on the main roster. And while he would depart the company in 2021 to join AEW, he returned to WWE in 2024, but was ultimately fired in September 2025, apparently due to numerous Wellness violations.
