Big E Disappoints Fans By Confirming His Wrestling Future

Nearly four years after suffering a serious neck injury on SmackDown in March 2022, Big E has confirmed he considers himself retired from in-ring competition. The former WWE Champion revealed this while speaking to Compas On The Beat, saying, “I’m content. You know, in wrestling, they always say, ‘never say never.’ But right now I’m retired.” This news comes as a huge blow to fans who had hoped the ex-New Day member would make a miraculous comeback to the ring.

39-year-old Big E suffered his neck injury while taking an overhead belly-to-belly suplex outside the ring from Ridge Holland. Landing awkwardly on the top of his head, he sustained fractures to his cervical vertebrae, specifically his C1 in two places and his C6. Thankfully, there was no spinal cord damage, and over time, his C1 healed but failed to fully rebuild bone structure, apparently leaving him unable to get medically cleared to wrestle again.
