Backstage News On Why AEW Did Adam Page’s Injury Angle

At the conclusion of this week’s episode of Dynamite, Adam Page seemingly injured his ankle when he escaped Samoa Joe’s Muscle Buster attempt. At the time, many fans were concerned for Page, as it appeared to be legitimate with him even telling the cameraman not to film him. However, it has since been confirmed that Page is fine, with Bryan Alvarez reporting during Wrestling Observer Live that the angle was done due to Page possibly not being able to work Revolution due to a personal issue.

“He worked an ankle injury. And the reason that he worked the ankle injury is because he has something going on in his personal life and he may not be able to work the pay-per-view. If he can’t work the pay-per-view then this is the cover story as to why he can’t work the pay-per-view, he injured his ankle. Virtually nobody knew about it, and I don’t know if even the people in the match knew that he was going to do this.”

32-year-old Page made his name in Ring of Honor and New Japan before becoming All Elite in 2019 along with the rest of The Elite. He would go to wrestle Chris Jericho for the inaugural AEW World Championship at All Out 2019, and while defeated, he established himself as a genuine main eventer in front of a new audience. Since then, he would go on to capture the title himself after pinning former tag partner Kenny Omega at Full Gear 2021, holding the title for 187 days before dropping it to CM Punk at Double Or Nothing 2022.
