Arn Anderson Discusses Vince McMahon Degrading And Demeaning Him In Raw Segment

In 1989 Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard gave notice to WWE due to being paid less than they had been lead to believe by Vince McMahon. This would actually backfire on both men, as before re-joining WCW, Blanchard failed a drugs test after reportedly licking a bag of an illegal substance to impress a woman. This resulted in Blanchard’s contract offer being pulled by WCW, and Anderson’s financial compensation being heavily reduced. Anderson would later return to WWE as a road agent in 2001 but believes McMahon still felt betrayed by him.

Anderson presumed this because after being brought into the feud between Steve Austin and Ric Flair, McMahon had Austin urinate on him. It obviously wasn’t real urine because it was mustard color. Still, regardless it came across as WWE disrespecting a legendary wrestler. During a recent episode of his The Arn Show podcast, Anderson was asked about this backstage skit and speculated why it was done.

Two people that were heavily involved in it were Jack Lanza, who was like the backstage producer, and Austin himself. They both told me that they went to Vince individually and collectively and said, “This guy is really highly respected in the business with the boys and the audience as well. This is really demeaning. Can’t we do something else?” Both got turned down, flatly. Do I suspect foul play and a reason in his mind to be doing it? Yes.

It could be punishment for leaving the way I did in 1989. He waits a long time when he feels betrayed or feels like you’ve wronged him – we were the very first guys to turn our notice in during that era. I know he didn’t like it, and you couple that with some other things, but do I think it’s a possibility? Yep. I know that he waits a very, very long time if he feels like you’ve screwed him. I could possibly see that. It was just so degrading and demeaning if you looked at it on the outside in.Arn Anderson

Arn Anderson no longer has to deal with Vince McMahon and is now a highly regarded member of the AEW family where he is aligned with Cody Rhodes on television.
